35-Storey condo application submitted to the City of Toronto could see Avenue Diner destroyed

Six months ago, Greybrook Realty Partners announced an equity investment worth $41,765,000 to acquire five properties in Yorkville, specifically at 148, 152, and 156 Avenue Road and 224 and 234 Davenport Avenue.

The investment would be in partnership with Tribute Communities to build a luxury high-rise condominium that would house over 380 units with over 6,000 square feet of commercial space.

Located at 222 Davenport Avenue is Avenue Diner, a Toronto establishment with a long history of serving since 1944. It’s being demolished as the development plans for 148 Avenue Road has submitted to the City of Toronto with renderings for approval.

The 35-storey condo is being designed by Chris Dikeakos Architects Inc. and CGL Architects and would be one of the largest buildings in that area of the city. The plan proposes a total gross floor area of 26,670 m², with a total of 355 condominium units are proposed in a mix of 166 one-bedrooms, 154 two-bedrooms, and 35 three-bedrooms.
