Ontario government launching housing affordability taskforce

The Ontario government is now planning to launch a new task force to look at the ever-rising cost of housing in the province.

There is no real plan for what the task force will do or when it will begin, but in the provincial government’s annual budget, there is a line allocated funds towards such a task force.

Other real estate watchdogs like the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board are championing the idea of the province needing more supply to keep up with demand, but I guess at this point, we’ll need to wait for the government’s new promised task force to come to that conclusion on its own.

The task force is also going to be looking to find new strategies to help with housing affordability and provide the provincial government with support to combat the housing crisis, reads the report from Storeys.
