Sherway Gardens is constructing a new mixed-use development

If living only steps away from a mall is your goal, keep an eye out for the massive construction coming to Sherway Gardens in Toronto.

Cadillac Fairview, the mall’s owner, announced new plans for a huge mixed-use neighbourhood surrounding the shopping centre on Wednesday. The master plan for the project plans for a number of new buildings with a mix of residential, office, and retail space, as well as a number of new parks and open spaces.

The first phase of the development will see the construction of two new condominium buildings and two residential rental buildings ranging in height from 30 to 45 storeys on the north side of Sherway Gardens. Retail space and facilities will be available in the four towers, which will total roughly 1.28 million square feet. Along The Queensway, there will be a public park, an urban plaza, and a vast landscaped zone.

“As we reflect on the history of how CF Sherway Gardens has evolved in the past, we are very excited to plan for its future,” said Wayne Barwise, executive vice president of development for Cadillac Fairview. “The Master Plan vision will help urbanize, enhance and create a thriving new mixed-use community.”

“We look forward to partnering with Cadillac Fairview to bring quality residences to the CF Sherway Gardens Community, and working with key community stakeholders, the City and the broader community through the municipal planning consultation process to bring this vision to life,” said Stephen Diamond, CEO of DiamondCorp.

Cadillac Fairview is collaborating with DiamondCorp, a property developer, to bring the new complex to life.
