Toronto Queen East redevelopment split into two projects

What was once one, is now two.

A long-in-development downtown Toronto condo project spearheaded by One Properties has sold half of its planned development to Tricon Residential.

Along with revealing the project is split between the two companies, new renders of the building have been released, showing off its modern design.

The development site is located in Toronto’s Moss Park area on the southern side of Queen Street East and east of McFarrens Lane. It then continues east to Ontario Street and south to Richmond Street East.

The site’s first development proposal back in 2016 featured a dramatic three tower design that included 1,645 units. However, the mid-rise and low-rise development was ultimately rejected by Toronto’s City Planning Committee.

Next, a proposal was submitted for three much taller buildings that included 1,820 units, but the city never made a decision regarding the project. This resulted in the site’s design continuing to evolve with subtle changes, according to Urban Toronto

The new split development — which seems set to remain mostly the same as before in terms of design — is set to be 25 storeys and will feature 446 residential units.
