Torontonians might see a new dual-tower-designed condo building go up in the Entertainment District above the Ballroom bowling alley.
The location sits at the corner of 133 John Street and 241 Richmond. The area consists of two units, a smaller 36-storey tower on the Northern corner and a larger 41-storey building behind it. That said, the building still functions as one single tower, according to the planning.
All in all, if this building gets approved, it’ll feature 470 condo units, including 43 studio, 309 one-bedroom, 69 two-bedroom and 49 three-bedroom suites. The ground floor on one side would be the bowling alley, and the other will feature a more modern architectural design and some retail space that could range from two to seven storeys.
The Ballroom Bowling alley is designated as a Toronto heritage site. The planning document explains how this modern building to the side can highlight the importance and vintage look of the old building.
