You’ve probably heard how Vancouver consistently ranks first on rankings of the most livable, beautiful, and desirable cities.

However, a new ranking places Vancouver at number 58 on their list, which may come as a surprise to Vancouver residents who are accustomed to considerably higher rankings.

The Top 100 City Destinations Index for 2021 was produced by Euromonitor International, a market research firm.

The score, according to Euromonitor, shows which cities have the most potential for tourism growth.

They ranked 100 cities on “overall city attractiveness” using 54 important variables from six different pillars, including Business Performance, Tourism Performance, Tourism Infrastructure, Tourism Policy and Attractiveness, Health and Safety, and Sustainability.

The top ten cities are mostly from Europe, and Germany has two cities on the list.

When it comes to the best in the Americas, Vancouver comes in at number 9, owing to its strong performance in the Health & Safety pillar.

Despite the fact that Vancouver was not specifically addressed in the research, it appears that it has a long way to go if it wants to be considered a top destination city on this list. More information and the full study are available online.

The top 10 cities are:

Paris
